Summary
Tenko is a large, tailless yellow fox-like creature with brown stripes on his limbs, black bat-like wings, duiker-like horns on his head, and no visible ears. His most striking feature is his ten blue beady eyes, with the main pair being three to six times larger than the others. He serves as a Heavenly Beast, though he is a unique mutation among his kind. While typical Heavenly Beasts are genetically engineered, cat-sized house pets, Tenko is an ancient version resembling a ferocious, Godzilla-sized fox. He aids Ueki in awakening his celestial powers and can shapeshift to fit onto Ueki’s wrist like an ice hockey goaltender’s arm protector, offering advice via telepathic communication. Treated poorly by Heavenly Beings, Tenko finds relief in Ueki, who is the first to show him kindness and respect. He possesses the ability to detect the power levels of Heavenly Beings, with his eyes lighting up and turning red based on the intensity. Due to his mutation, Tenko has an enlarged "awakening organ" capable of unlocking Ueki’s hidden potential. However, this process is limited; he can only train Heavenly Beings up to level 7 without dying, though he can repeat this process with different beings. In the early episodes, he also demonstrated the ability to spit out a large, roundish bunny creature that enveloped Ueki and healed him within 12 hours. Despite being fairly harsh with Ueki at times, Tenko is grateful to have found someone who needs him. He provides crucial tactical advice during battles, such as warning Ueki about the Marilyn team’s location in the smoke or signaling when the jump rope is coming during their duel. He is strictly prohibited from fighting, as doing so would result in his banishment to Hell.
