Okita, Keigo
Summary
Okita is a boxer at Nakadai Gym who held the Rookie of the Year title before Ippo. He is an intensely serious individual who idolizes Eiji Date so deeply that he copies his style and special techniques. When Date showed favor toward the relatively inexperienced Makunouchi Ippo, it sparked intense jealousy in Okita, leading him to challenge Ippo to a bout. Relying on his confidence in the "corkscrew blow," a punch he had appropriated from Date, Okita was nonetheless decisively defeated by Ippo in the first round. He later appeared as one of Date's assistants during Date's fight with Ippo.
