Summary

Born in Resembool in 1900, Alphonse Elric is the younger brother of Edward Elric and the son of Trisha Elric and Van Hohenheim. Following a forbidden alchemical transmutation attempt to resurrect their deceased mother, Trisha, Alphonse lost his physical form. His soul was bound to a suit of armor by Edward, a process secured by a blood seal drawn with Edward’s blood located on the inside of the armor at the base of the neck. Edward warns that the seal must remain intact during any reconstruction, as its removal would result in the permanent loss of Alphonse’s soul. Known for his gentle nature, earning the nickname "Kindness in a can" from his brother, Alphonse is an alchemist who fights using martial arts and alchemy. He possesses high intelligence and a body composed of highly resistant armor. His age varies across adaptations, ranging from ten at the end of the 2003 anime to thirteen in the movie, and seventeen by the conclusion of the manga and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
