Kuroyuri

Summary

Kuroyuri is the youngest member of Ayanami’s subordinates and is typically accompanied by their Begleiter, Haruse. The character’s gender remains an ambiguous point of contention within the manga. When Konatsu seeks clarification in an omake panel, Kuroyuri deflects by calling it a secret. However, when pressed by Hyuuga, the response is a lethal threat: "do you want to die?" Kuroyuri holds a rigid conviction that lawbreakers deserve severe punishment. Their combat style involves toying with enemies in a manner reminiscent of a child playing with dolls, displaying a cat-like cruelty. This ruthlessness is matched by a steely determination and refusal to give up, a trait forged after surviving a traumatic childhood incident that transformed them into someone who "refuses to die." Despite this hardened exterior, Kuroyuri is still a young child who requires more sleep than their older teammates. They are a heavy sleeper, often found napping in Haruse’s arms and remaining oblivious to shouting or fighting nearby. Although possessing formidable fighting skills, Kuroyuri is emotionally volatile and easily upset when things do not go their way. They are highly possessive of those they care about and become distressed when their friends are injured. Kuroyuri is fanatically devoted to Ayanami, showing immense respect and a willingness to do anything to protect him. Ayanami serves as a parental figure who comforts Kuroyuri during tears. The subordinate was visibly offended when Frau used Ayanami’s scythe and expressed deep worry and subsequent delight upon seeing him recover from injuries. Kuroyuri lost their sense of taste after being poisoned. According to the first drama CD, they have fallen in love with someone but lack the courage to confess. Additionally, the second drama CD reveals that Kuroyuri despises waking up early in the morning.
