Summary
As the special captain of the third unit in the Shinsengumi, Shimaru Saitou stands as the sole survivor of his division after all other members were executed for treason. His complete silence leads to frequent misunderstandings and unintentional intimidation of those around him. In written communication, he concludes every sentence with "Z," the sound he makes while sleeping. Despite his stoic demeanor, he is trusting to a fault, regarding Katsura as a good friend even though Katsura is overtly duplicitous.
