Summary
Aaroniero Arruruerie serves as Espada #09 and stands as the sole Gillian-class Arrancar among the original squad. Symbolizing Greed, he possesses the unique ability to devour and replicate the powers of Hollows he consumes. Among the more than 33,650 Hollows he absorbed was Metastacia, the entity that had taken over the body of Kaien Shiba, the assistant captain of the 13th Division in the Seireitei. Aaroniero utilized this stolen identity to trick Rukia Kuchiki into killing her comrades as a means of atonement for Kaien’s death. Rukia, refusing to accept the deception, recognized that Aaroniero was not Kaien and launched an attack. Upon revealing his true, grotesque form, he impaled Rukia with Kaien’s Nejibana, exploiting her lingering guilt over failing to save him. However, Rukia recalled that Kaien’s heart remained within her, allowing her to overcome the despair. She ultimately defeated him by piercing one of his heads and shattering the stasis tank that housed his multiple heads.
