Shodai Kaichou

Shodai Kaichou

Summary

Shodai Kaichou is the enigmatic first president of the club, a figure whose actual name remains unknown. Though he appears largely harmless on the surface, he is eerily quiet and incredibly stealthy, capable of moving from place to place like smoke without anyone noticing. This ability to remain undetected frequently scares Saki, despite his generally benign demeanor. He seems to possess extensive knowledge about the college and its student body, although he denies using hidden cameras or any other surveillance methods to gather this information. As the head of the Genshiken, he has held the position for an extraordinarily long time, with evidence suggesting his tenure dates back as far as 1987. He is often seen standing atop buildings, staring into the club room from above. Eventually, he steps down to focus on his graduate thesis, implying he is pursuing a PhD. During his leadership, he established the custom of the outgoing president personally selecting their successor. The titles of the first twelve episodes of the anime can be interpreted as the "research" he conducted on unsuspecting club members, a theme that shifts to more mundane topics in episodes following his departure.
