Niizuma, Eiji
Summary
Eiji Niizuma is a teenage prodigy who has been creating manga since childhood. By the end of the series, he is 26 years old, having been introduced at age 15 with a birthday on November 3, 1992. Moritaka Mashiro and Akito Takagi view him as their primary rival. Although he was initially scheduled to serialize a title called Yellow Hit, he instead created Crow, which ran in Akamaru Jump. His early assistants included Nakai and Fukuda, while Mashiro briefly worked for him before Detective Trap began serialization. His editor is Hattori Yujiro. Niizuma once made a pact to end a series he despised if he ever became the most popular author in Jump. Despite being hailed as a genius, Niizuma can come across as conceited, though he is capable of being serious and calculating. After working on Crow for an extended period, he became more humble, once telling his editor that he did not feel qualified to judge other people's work for the Golden Future Cup. He still participated in the judging but offered little help, focusing only on his interest in Ashirogi and Ryu Shizuka. Niizuma often vocalizes sound effects while drawing or writing. He is frequently scolded by his editor and initially seemed oblivious to his rivals' feelings, even expressing excitement at meeting Ashirogi Muto and claiming to be their fan. Highly respected by everyone at Jump, including his competitors, Niizuma refers to himself as an "Eternal Boy," which explains why he writes shounen manga.
