Summary
Asuna Kujou is a lovely and timid young woman who regards dogs as her own siblings. She quickly developed romantic feelings for Mitaka after they encountered each other during an arranged marriage meeting, even though Mitaka suffered an allergic reaction at the time. Initially, she harbored concerns regarding the relationship between Mitaka and Kyoko. Her surname, Kujou, translates to "Ninth Avenue" in Kyoto and suggests that she belongs to the ancient aristocratic Fujiwara clan. The name Kujou is also a homophone for Cujo, the notorious demon dog from a Stephen King novel, though it remains uncertain if author Rumiko Takahashi intended this as a deliberate pun.
