Summary
First appearing in Battle 7, Apachai is a 28-to-29-year-old Dou practitioner standing 201cm tall and weighing 120kg. He specializes in Muay Thai and Muay Boran, earning the title of Muay Thai "Shinigami" and serving as a master at Ryozanpaku. His fighting style is classified as Katsujin Ken, though he secretly practices Muay Boran at night to honor tradition, hiding this dangerous art from Kenichi to protect him. Despite his lethal capabilities, Apachai possesses a childlike personality that makes him particularly good with children and animals, including a unique ability to communicate with the latter. However, he struggles to restrain his power, often bringing Kenichi to the brink of death, such as when he induced cardiac arrest in Chapter 24. This lack of control stems from his early start in life-or-death ring battles, where striking with lethal force became a reflex. Although he learned to hold back after realizing Kenichi was afraid to train with him, he still occasionally knocks out his student when fully engaged in combat mode. Apachai regards Agaard Jum Sai as an older brother and has cited his difficulty understanding Japanese as a reason for his inability to heed warnings about holding back, a sentiment Agaard reinforced by demonstrating the terrifying consequences of unchecked force. His speech is characterized by frequent exclamations of "Apa," often escalating to "Apapapapa" during fights. He answers calls with "We have your child hostage" rather than a greeting, a habit linked to his past involvement with child traffickers. Additionally, Apachai is a voracious eater, particularly of hamburgers, which he sometimes steals from Sakaki. This gluttony originates from his childhood, when his boss would confiscate his dinner as punishment for breaking training equipment.
