Oak, Hakuren
Seiyuu / Dub
Summary
Hakuren Oak, born on October 15, stands at 167 cm and weighs 50 kg with blood type A. As Teito’s roommate at the Barsburg Church, he considers himself Teito’s rival for the Bishop's Apprentice Exam, while deeply idolizing Frau and Castor. A member of the Oak family, Hakuren broke from the tradition of entering politics or the military by choosing the path of a Bishop. He is the cousin of Shuri Oak. Though often perceived as vain and self-centered, he is fundamentally gentle, thoughtful, diplomatic, studious, and strong-willed. Despite his kindness, he occasionally enjoys mocking those who annoy him. While his greatest strength lies in his mind, he is also talented with his attacking Zaiphon and possesses reasonably good athletic ability. Hakuren’s motivation to become a Bishop stems from a desire to help people and exact revenge on his father. Although he has rebelled against the Oak family, he remains proud of his lineage, becoming visibly offended when Teito insulted the family by calling them 'spineless Oaks'. He openly dislikes women and feels physically ill around them, except for his mother and Lazette. This aversion, which he refers to as 'joseiyoi', results from childhood trauma caused by his father forcing him to view dozens of marriage albums. Initially, Hakuren and Teito clashed immediately upon meeting, exchanging insults within minutes. However, their relationship shifted after they were forced to become roommates; Hakuren’s opinion of Teito changed after seeing his sklave mark and witnessing Teito risk his life to save him. He now holds Teito dear, referring to him as his "dear comrade" and "light." Mikhail notes that Hakuren’s voice has a soothing effect on Teito. While Hakuren often assumes a motherly role toward Teito, he also enjoys teasing him, though less frequently than Frau and Mikage.
