Summary
Yaichi serves as the charismatic leader of the Five Leaves, a mysterious figure who avoids discussing his history. He resides in a local brothel, where he protects and flirts with the women employed there. Distinctive for his light-colored hair and tanned skin, he is frequently depicted smoking a pipe. Initially, he appears calm and carefree, focused entirely on living in the present moment, a philosophy he shares with Masanosuke. He assists the socially shy and financially struggling Masanosuke by recruiting him into the Five Leaves gang. While Yaichi initially befriended the samurai due to his naivety, their relationship deteriorates over time as Masanosuke becomes increasingly annoying to him. Eventually, Yaichi finds himself the subject of Masanosuke’s personal investigation into his repressed past.
