Summary
Eighteen-year-old Kanae Ootori is the fiancée of Akio and the daughter of the school's Trustee Chairman. She feels deeply unsettled by Anthy, who intentionally keeps her distance. During her appearance in the Black Rose interview, Kanae admits that she finds Anthy to be creepy and intolerable. This deep-seated distrust fuels her hatred during her Black Rose duel against Utena, effectively initiating the cycle of these duels. In the manga's Final Saga, Kanae transforms into a "Body Without Soul," becoming a silent, motionless figure who is constantly by Akio's side. Her role in the Utena movie is brief; she is shown dancing with Akio and later mourning over his body when it is found in the rose garden.
