Self-proclaimed as Edo's premier gossip monger, Ichiemon makes a living selling newspapers by reading the printed stories aloud to passersby. He serves as an announcer, having commentated on the eating contest in episode 5 and the baseball match in episode 23. Notably, he is one of only three side characters to appear in more than one story arc, excluding any flashbacks.
