Kurosawa, Minamo

Summary

Minamo Kurosawa, affectionately known as Nyamo, serves as a physical education instructor and homeroom teacher at the girls' school, guiding Class 5 during their first year and Class 2 for the subsequent two. She shares a long-standing, rivalry-filled friendship with Yukari, characterized by juvenile bickering and mutual teasing, though Nyamo is far more composed and less abrasive than her counterpart. While students address her as Kurosawa-sensei, Yukari and Tomo prefer the nickname Nyamo, which originated in their high school days. Her demeanor closely mirrors that of student Yomi rather than Tomo, and her dynamic with Yukari parallels the bond between the two students. Nyamo is well-liked by the student body for her kindness and self-control, contrasting sharply with Yukari’s more obnoxious nature. Yukari frequently mocks Nyamo’s romantic history and dismisses her as a "stupid P.E. teacher," often using old secrets like a high school love letter as leverage. During a summer trip, Nyamo surprisingly consumed alcohol to prevent Yukari from doing so, leading to a candid and embarrassing talk about romance that confused Chiyo but impressed the other girls. Beyond her classroom duties, she coaches the women’s swim team, earning high respect from Kagura, who refers to her as "Coach." Nyamo maintains a tidy apartment and drives a blue Toyota Vitz 5-door. She is notably sensitive regarding her love life, a vulnerability Yukari exploits for endless ribbing. Despite having the opportunity to accept a position with significantly higher income and prestige, Nyamo remains dedicated to her teaching career, prioritizing her role at the school over professional advancement.
