Sumimura, Yoshimori

Summary

Yoshimori serves as the twenty-second Kekkaishi of the Sumimura lineage. He is characterized by a lazy and stubborn demeanor, though he possesses a headstrong determination to shield his loved ones, particularly Tokine, whom he has harbored romantic feelings for since their youth. In his early years, Yoshimori was prone to frequent crying and harbored a strong aversion to his role as a Kekkaishi. His outlook shifted significantly following an incident where Tokine’s arm was wounded by an ayakashi that Yoshimori had failed to defeat. At the start of the narrative, he is frequently depicted baking, a pastime he values more highly than his duties. Although he aspires to become a patissier, his grandfather often reprimands him for this ambition. Yoshimori’s capabilities as a Kekkaishi contrast sharply with Tokine’s. His rash and impulsive nature causes him to lag behind her in speed and precision. However, he surpasses her in raw power and endurance, allowing him to generate massive, potent kekkai that would exhaust or be impossible for Tokine to sustain. Sumimura Shigemori and Sumimura Masamori have both noted that Yoshimori possesses a vast reservoir of latent potential within his kekkai techniques. Additionally, he can activate zekkai without prior specialized training, although he can only harness its full power during moments of intense emotional overflow.
