Hazard, Jenos

Summary

Jenos Hazard is a twenty-five-year-old member of the Chronos Numbers, bearing the designation Number VII. Renowned as perhaps the most handsome among his peers, he carries a reputation as a womanizer who genuinely falls in deep love with every romantic interest, with Rinslet Walker standing out as a primary favorite throughout the narrative. He wields a specialized glove called Excelion, embedded with indestructible Orichalcum wires capable of delivering deep cuts or securing a tight grip. As a middle-range attacker for the Cerberus unit alongside Naizer and Beluga, he intervenes to halt Beluga’s suicidal plan to eliminate Creed, leading to a perilous castle escape where Beluga sacrifices himself to support a collapsing ceiling while Jenos flees with an unconscious Naizer. He also attempts to mediate conflicts between Baldorias, Kranz, and the sweeper team members Train and Sven, and facilitates a meeting by bringing Kyoko to Sephiria for evaluation. During the final assault on Clarken Island, he partners with Lin, with whom he shares an easy rapport. His alignment shifts between adaptations; while the manga portrays him as friendly toward Train and Sven’s team, the anime depicts an initially neutral stance due to his past connection with Eve, whom Train once saved. He gradually adopts a supportive role toward Train’s group during the Eden incursion and assumes additional responsibilities, such as monitoring the World Conference from a helicopter and receiving orders to capture or eliminate Eve early in the series. In the anime, he is consistently accompanied by a Chronos eraser and maintains a stricter, more formal relationship with Lin. His affection for Rinslet is portrayed as genuine love rather than mere flirtation, with him expressing his feelings even in dire situations, resulting in a closer bond than in the manga, culminating in a phone call between them in the final episode. Notably, his number represents 'Lucky 7,' contrasting with Train’s 'Unlucky 13,' and his VII mark appears on his chest opposite Train’s, though he is never explicitly described as lucky despite the title.
