Shinagawa, Daichi
Summary
Shinagawa Daichi, born on April 2 and standing 175 cm tall with type A blood, serves as the male protagonist of the series. Known by the moniker "Yankee-kun," he is a short-tempered delinquent who prefers solitude and initially had no ambitions for his high school days until his life changed upon meeting Adachi. While his favorite foods are anything with good taste, he actively dislikes vegetables and sweets. His academic strength lies in mathematics. Shinagawa’s relationship with Hana Adachi is characterized by a love-hate dynamic. He is drawn to her selfless nature and willingness to help others, yet he is frequently irritated by her idiocy, lack of common sense, and bizarre plans that force him into assisting her antics. He suspects that her constant presence around him stems from romantic interest, but she consistently ignores or feigns ignorance when he confronts her about it. Despite their frequent bickering, Shinagawa is honorable and will do anything to protect others, ensuring he never hurts or upsets Hana. He goes so far as to hide his true feelings for her, which are clearly directed at the version of her seen without her glasses and with her hair down. His decision to attend Mon Shiro was ultimately made after seeing a beautiful girl at his entry exam, who was later confirmed in chapter 61 to be Hana in this specific appearance, alongside other characters such as Chiba, Izumi, and Akita. After initially being annoyed by her repeated attempts to involve him in a school field trip, Shinagawa’s perspective shifted once he learned about her past and her determination to become class representative.
