Summary
Hailing from Nagano Prefecture, Uehara Yui serves as a police detective and acts as the subordinate of Yamato Kansuke. The two share a deep history, having grown up together in their home village. Their paths converged on the police force after being inspired by the late Kuroto Kai, a beloved local officer and kyujitsu master whose mysterious death spurred them to launch an investigation. When Yamato suffered severe injuries in an unrelated incident—resulting in his damaged leg and signature scarred eye—Uehara chose to continue the inquiry independently. She resigned from the force and infiltrated a family she suspected of Kai’s murder by marrying into their household. However, the case remained unsolved for a year until a new series of enigmatic killings took place, claiming her husband as the first victim. This fresh tragedy prompted Conan and Heiji to intervene and finally resolve the mystery. Following the conclusion of the case, Uehara returned to her duties as a detective.
