Summary
Miki is a highly skilled and polite seventh grader who befriends Utena despite their potential status as opponents in the duels. A piano player par excellence, he cherishes fond memories of playing songs with his twin sister, Kozue Kaoru, during his childhood. However, her current refusal to play with him symbolizes a deeper rift, leaving Miki with a profound sense of loss. In the anime, his crush on Anthy develops because she reminds him of his estranged sister, whereas in the manga, his affections are directed toward Utena for similar reasons. In both adaptations, his drive to duel stems from a desire to find something to replace Kozue in his heart. His romantic goal is to find "that which shines." Miki serves as the secretary of the Student Council and is frequently seen with a stopwatch in hand. He is also a member of the fencing club, wielding an Épée. All the females at the school, including older students, idolize him, but Kozue threatens any girls who attempt to get too close. Miki is very protective of his sister, who in turn tries to make him jealous by dating as many boys as possible.
