Summary
Kogitsune is a gentle and shy spirit who appears in the first season's seventh episode as a new friend to Natsume. He had previously been bullied by other yokai because of his timid nature, which made him deeply grateful to Natsume for rescuing him. The bond between them strengthens when Natsume refuses to claim Kogitsune’s name in the Book of Friends, choosing instead to acknowledge them as friends. Kogitsune occasionally visits Natsume, though his lack of experience as a spirit means he relies on a potion to temporarily transform into a human child for these outings. It is implied that his mother has passed away, as he refers to a specific grave as "mom" when speaking to it.
