Lieutenant General Gardner stood as one of the most formidable figures within the Amestrian State Military and a prominent member of Central Command. Fully aware of the clandestine scheme orchestrated by Father and the Homunculi, Gardner harbored no reservations about sacrificing his country's citizens to secure immortality alongside his co-conspirators. Following Major General Armstrong's transfer to Central Command, it was Gardner who disclosed to her the existence of a stockpile of Homunculus soldier-dolls hidden deep beneath the headquarters, intended to strike and replicate themselves from the state's enemies. When The Promised Day arrived and Briggs' forces launched their offensive on Central City, Gardner tried to restrain General Armstrong's actions, only to be shot in the head by her and killed instantly.
