Tanaka, Yukio

Summary

Known primarily by his nickname Koyuki, Yukio Tanaka serves as the central protagonist of the series. Beginning as an unremarkable and passive teenager, his life undergoes a dramatic transformation as he develops into a gifted guitarist with deep emotional resonance. While his initial timidity and tendency to be pushed around may reflect Japan's reserved, conformity-driven culture, Koyuki ultimately discovers his voice, both literally and figuratively, through the power of music. As the final recruit to join BECK, he assumes the roles of second guitarist and vocalist, celebrated for his stunningly beautiful singing that often anchors the band's more soulful, slower tracks. He is characterized by his use of a Fender Telecaster.
