Summary

While Maes Hughes is frequently viewed as the series' comedic relief, he actually makes his debut as a serious and capable fighter. He shares a deep bond with Roy Mustang, whom he supports wholeheartedly in his ambitions. Hughes is also a devoted family man, utterly dedicated to his wife Gracia and always eager to show off pictures of his adorable daughter, Elycia, which he keeps in his uniform. Starting his career as a Major in the Investigation Division, he eventually rises to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
