Ogata, Isshinsai

Summary

Ogata Isshinsai, a Saint Fist of Yami and a practitioner of the Satsujin Ken style, first appears in Battle 119. Representing the Flow symbol and specializing in Ancient Martial Arts, he is the master of Asamiya Ryuuto and notably the first character to walk the Path of Asura. Physically, he is a tall man with a muscular build, long light purple hair reaching his waist, and a calm demeanor, typically dressed in a cloak with bandaged wrists and a buckle belt for carrying items. While he shares the hidden rage of Alexander Gaidar and Diego Carlo, Ogata maintains slightly more control, only losing his temper when provoked or challenged. He exhibits sociopathic traits, capable of instantly shifting his demeanor. His initial meeting with Kenichi presents him as a kind man seeking atonement, but his true nature is revealed when he mercilessly attacks a bear even after it is already dead. Lacking morals or concern for others, he routinely manipulates people and uses them as test subjects for new techniques. His relationship with his disciple, Ryuuto, is complex; while he trains him in high-level techniques, he also utilizes him as a guinea pig for untested moves like Seidou Goui without regard for his well-being. Originally slated to be Ryozanpaku’s first disciple before Kenichi, the Elder rejected him due to his evil intentions. Ogata later encountered Ryuuto, who was facing two armed opponents. After swiftly defeating them, he demonstrated that martial arts killing still exists and took Ryuuto in as his disciple.
