Summary

Elsie is the Deuteragonist of the story and a shinigami tasked with capturing evil spirits that have escaped from hell. She possesses a sweet, pure, and innocent personality, often attempting to please Keima by acting as a "little sister," though these efforts frequently backfire due to cultural differences and end up placing Keima in difficult situations. Despite her divine role, she harbors an intense fear of ghosts and the dark. She is quite popular among young men, particularly after she began working at her family’s cafe, a popularity so high that Keima’s mother once dressed her as a maid to attract customers, noting that few could resist her in that attire. She carries a broom from her original role as a cleaner for hell, having kept it for 298 years, and is left-handed. Her floating feather cloth can alter the appearance of objects, create disguises to aid missions, or hide people in plain sight. She has an older sister known as the "Demon of Demons." To remain close to Keima, she deceives his mother, Mari, into believing she is an illegitimate child of Keima’s father, a lie that nearly caused his parents' divorce, allowing her to live in the Katsuragi household and attend the same class at school.
