Matsuka, Jonah
Summary
Matsuka, a young man defined by his unwavering loyalty to Keith, initially dismissed his mind-reading abilities as merely "weird" or "unique." In reality, he is a Mu who successfully deceived the system by maintaining poor grades and feigning the persona of a delinquent to evade Mother. His Mu powers manifested while traveling to the educational station, shortly before Keith identified him as a Mu and he was subsequently assigned to the Soleid base. He believed the remote location would allow for a peaceful existence, a plan disrupted by Keith Anyan’s arrival. During the movie, Matsuka is seen fleeing the base and hiding in Keith’s quarters, appearing only twice thereafter: first to rescue Keith at Nasca, and again just before he meets Jomy to serve tea or coffee. In these later appearances, his Mu powers are scarcely mentioned. Although his name is frequently misread as "Makka" in all English media due to the half-height 'tsu' in マツカ indicating a repeated sound, the correct reading remains Matsuka.
