Summary
Charden Flamberg is a distinctive figure known for his sunglasses and silk top hat, though he appears strikingly handsome and somewhat effeminate when bareheaded. He possesses the ability to manipulate blood, including that extracted from his foes. His Tao Power is named "Blood." In the manga, Charden initially teams up with Kyoko to fight Belze, but the conflict ends inconclusively when Shiki intervenes to retrieve both members for the Apostles of the Stars' helicopter. He later witnesses Durham’s death after Train defeats him. Charden eventually departs the Apostles of the Stars alongside Kyoko due to an ideological rift with Creed; he believes Creed’s bloodlust has obscured the original sense of justice that founded the group. Despite leaving, he continues to oppose Chronos and later encounters Train and Sven. In the final chapter, Charden is depicted coughing up blood, suggesting he is nearing death. In the anime adaptation, Charden’s story diverges slightly from the manga. The battle against Belze does not occur, and his departure from the Apostles happens at a different point in the timeline. He reappears near the end of the series, no longer wearing his signature hat and sunglasses, with his hair tied back. Charden decides to assist Train and the group in their effort to stop Eden. He engages the Zero numbers in battle while Train and Sven ascend to the upper levels to rescue Eve. During this time, he attempts to speak with Sephiria, triggering a flashback of a past fight between them, although the actual battle is not depicted.
