Summary
In the Pokémon anime, Maxie made appearances in the episodes Gaining Groudon and The Scuffle of Legends. His primary objective was to expand the landmass of Hoenn under the belief that doing so would bring peace to the region. However, by the conclusion of The Scuffle of Legends, he underwent a change of heart, realizing his mistakes and accepting that Hoenn should remain as it is. In the manga, Maxie operates without a permanent base, moving his headquarters from cave to cave across Hoenn. He commands Team Magma with a barbaric style, which makes the group more elusive. This strategy allowed Team Magma to steal the Scanner from the Abandoned Ship as well as the Red and Blue Orbs, though the latter was subsequently taken by Amber's Volbeat for Archie. Following Rayquaza’s intervention to stop the battle between Groudon and Kyogre, Maxie and Archie descended into madness. They attempted to eliminate anyone who had disrupted their plans, including the Elite Four, Gym Leaders, the Regis, and even their own subordinates. It was Maxie's Houndoom that inflicted burns on Norman with its flames. According to Archie, Maxie ultimately perished when the Red Orb burned through his body, causing him to crumble into dust.
