Summary
Chagum is the second prince of the Imperial Family and carries the egg of the water spirit that his ancestors originally defeated. This spirit is believed to be responsible for the Drought Sign interpreted by the Empire's Star Diviners. To avoid bringing shame upon the Imperial Family, his father, the emperor, has secretly sentenced Chagum to death. In an effort to save her son, the empress hired Balsa to safeguard Chagum’s life and help him escape from the imperial palace.
