Summary
Matilda Ajan serves as the commanding officer of the Earth Federation's Medea supply corps and occasionally acts as a personal envoy for General Revil, delivering messages and orders to various ships. When the White Base finds itself trapped in Zeon-controlled airspace over North America, the critical supplies provided by the Medea corps enable the battered assault carrier to perform essential repairs and escape across the Pacific Ocean. Because she consistently appears when the White Base is in dire straits and assists them however she can, Miss Matilda is regarded as the vessel's guardian angel. Her stunning beauty also makes her the ideal dream girl for many of the young male crew members, particularly the young Amuro Ray. She is engaged to Lieutenant Woody Malden, a chief military engineer stationed at the Earth Federation headquarters in Jaburo. Upon the ship's arrival in Asia, Miss Matilda instructs the White Base to proceed to Ukraine to participate in Operation Odessa, a major military campaign aimed at reclaiming the mining facilities at Odessa from the Principality of Zeon.
