VR Vampire Fantasy Destiny Unchain Online Logs Into a TV Anime

The full-dive crowd just got fresh log-in fuel: an official production account has confirmed a television anime for Destiny Unchain Online: How I Became the Crimson Devil, the VRMMO adventure by author resn with character designs and manga by Yachimoto. The reveal arrived with a commemorative illustration from Yachimoto and a message from resn thanking staff, the artist, and long-time readers for carrying the series this far.

At the center of the story is Kou Mitsuki, a crack gamer invited to beta-test his father’s next-gen VRMMORPG. System bugs strand him in-game as a vampire girl—unable to log out and stuck deep in the wilds—before his exploits push him toward the infamous moniker of the Crimson Demon Lord. It’s classic full-dive chaos with a sharp gender-swap twist and party-based fantasy combat.

The franchise has been building on multiple fronts. Resn first serialized the tale online in 2020 before Kodansha launched the light novels under its Ranobe Books imprint in late 2022 (three volumes and counting). Yachimoto’s manga has been running on Magazine Pocket since July 2022, with the 13th collected volume shipping in Japan this month, while English readers can follow the series on Kodansha’s K Manga service.

Studio, staff, cast, and a premiere window are still under wraps, so treat this as the green-light moment rather than the full battle plan. Even so, locking in a TV anime for a steadily growing VRMMO property—and opening a dedicated PR account in the same breath—signals the industry still has appetite for immersive game-world fantasies.
