To You in the Beyond Drops Main Trailer, Key Visual & Theme ‘Olive’

The theatrical adaptation of Akiko Abe’s novel To You in the Beyond (Doko yori mo Tooi Basho ni Iru Kimi e) has finally shown its full face. The official site just rolled out the main trailer and a painted key visual from character designer–chief animation director Hechima: turquoise island waters, a grand piano on the sand, and the leads standing a careful distance apart as dusk light hits the shore.
The PV leans hard into summer and secrecy. Transfer student Kazuki Tsukigase (Hiiro Ishibashi) finds amnesiac girl Nao Akishika (Anna Nagase) collapsed at a “spirit-vanishing” inlet—she can only name herself, her age, and the year “1974.” Soft beach days give way to rain, buried wounds, and Kazuki’s raw plea not to be left alone, all scored by singer-songwriter Tota’s newly confirmed theme, “Olive.”
Rounding out campus life on fictional Tokishima, the campaign also locks four classmates: Sumire Uesaka as model student Tamaki Mishima, Wataru Hatano as gentle giant Shōji Aiba, Nobuhiko Okamoto as frank friend Akimitsu Yano, and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as rival Yoshiki Suga. Junichi Wada directs at TMS Entertainment from a Sayaka Kuwamura script; Shochiku opens the film in Japan on October 9.
