Studio Gale Goes Sci-Fi: Nano List Anime Hits TVING August 17

Korea’s Studio Gale is stepping far outside the preschool lane. Best known for family hits like Pororo the Little Penguin and Tayo the Little Bus, the studio is producing its first science-fiction action series: an animated adaptation of Song-A Min’s webtoon Nano List, set to premiere on domestic streamer TVING on August 17.
The project is the first time Nano List has left the vertical-scroll page for full animation. In the story, ordinary high-schooler Do-jin Ahn (called Milo in the English webtoon) inherits a deadly android assassin named Nano—leftover work from his late sister—and has to survive a world where living with combat androids is anything but ordinary. The source material racked up a near-perfect 9.98 user score during its 2016–2018 run and remains free to read in English on WEBTOON.
For Gale, the move is a clear production bet: after years of gentle kids’ IP, the studio is testing whether its pipeline can deliver hard sci-fi action. No North American or European streaming partner has been named yet, so international fans will be watching TVING—and whatever licensing talks follow—once the first episodes drop mid-August.
