Kino’s Journey Author Sigsawa Debuts First Original Manga on CoroCoro

Shogakukan’s Weekly CoroCoro Comic platform has opened the door on a major creator first: light-novel mainstay Keiichi Sigsawa is writing his debut original manga. Titled Kemono-tachi no Peregrinatio (also rendered Peregrinatio Bestiarum / The Beasts’ Wandering), the series debuted on the magazine’s digital service on July 17 with art by Hayato Asaki, known for Hitokui-hime no Cavaliere.
The story is pure post-collapse scale. Decades after colossal “giant beasts” erased most of humanity, young chronicler Al and beast tamer Rico roam a quieted world aboard their partner Kuro—a massive wolf large enough to carry an entire house on its back—searching for survivors who still keep their distance from anything that walks on four (or more) legs.
For Sigsawa fans, the move is a landmark. The writer behind Kino’s Journey and Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online has long lived in prose and adaptations; this is the first time he is scripting an original manga from the ground up rather than handing novels to another team. Chapters run Fridays on CoroCoro’s site, with simultaneous digital distribution through BookLive and Pixiv Comic—so the road trip with Al, Rico, and Kuro is already easy to hop on.
