HIDIVE Snaps Up Short-Form Rom-Com 'I'm Dating a Dark Summoner' for Fall

HIDIVE announced it will exclusively stream the upcoming short-form TV anime of Shaoh's "I'm Dating a Dark Summoner" (Dark Summoner to Dekiteiru) as part of its Fall 2026 simulcast lineup. The deal covers the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, with the series set to premiere in October.
Produced under WWWave Corporation's Deregula label, the project adapts the Kadokawa-published manga that launched in 2021 on the Dra Dra Sharp# platform and has reached seven compiled volumes. Seiya Miyajima directs and handles series composition, while Takahiro Sasaki serves as character designer and chief animation director. The main cast includes Rei Takano as the demi-human dark summoner Amona, Yūki Nishiyama as the earnest cleric Roni, and Hōden Tei Senmai as Imp.
The story centers on Amona joining Roni's adventuring party. What begins as an unlikely partnership between a demon-powered outsider and a righteous priest quickly turns intimate on their very first day together, blending fantasy adventure with rom-com sparks and plenty of heat.
The licensing move underscores HIDIVE's push into concise, character-driven short anime formats that have gained traction with fans seeking quick, flavorful stories. With production already advancing and a key visual released, the series is poised to stand out in the fall season alongside other HIDIVE acquisitions.
