HIDIVE Secures Exclusive Rights for Murciélago 2027 Anime

After 13 years in print, Kana Yoshimura's wildly unhinged manga Murciélago is finally getting a TV anime slated for 2027. The project was revealed during NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan's panel at Anime Expo 2026, instantly sparking excitement among fans of its over-the-top crime-action style.
HIDIVE has secured exclusive streaming rights for the series in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand as part of its 2027 lineup. The deal positions the AMC Global Media platform as the primary home for the adaptation outside Japan.
Satelight and Staple Entertainment will jointly animate the project. Naoya Takashi serves as chief director and handles series composition, while Asami Matsuo directs. Sei Tateishi is on character designs, with music by Masanori Akita and Yūichi Tsuchiya. The manga, serialized in Square Enix's Young Gangan since 2013, has sold over 2.3 million copies worldwide across 28 volumes.
The story follows former death-row inmate Kuroko Koumori, recruited as a state-sanctioned executioner, and her partner Hinako Tozakura, whose exceptional driving skills make them an unstoppable — and deeply unconventional — duo fighting evil with evil. A teaser visual and super teaser PV accompanied the announcement, giving fans their first glimpse at the stylish, boundary-pushing adaptation on the horizon.
