Ghost in the Shell Episode 4 Adds Ogata & Ebara to the Cast

Science SARU’s summer reboot of the cyberpunk classic just locked in two heavyweight guest voices. Bandai Namco Filmworks confirmed that veteran seiyuu Kenichi Ogata voices Colonel Tonoda and Masashi Ebara plays the president of Hanka Precision Instruments in episode 4, “ROBOT RONDO,” which hit Kansai TV/Fuji TV’s Ka-Anival!! block and Prime Video worldwide on July 28.

Both characters turn up as Section 9’s investigation deepens, expanding a lineup already led by Maaya Sakamoto as Motoko Kusanagi, Kazuhiro Yamaji as Aramaki, Hiroki Yasumoto as Batou, and Yūichi Nakamura as Togusa. Ogata quipped that Tonoda is the kind of officer even maid robots learn to hate; Ebara joked that playing a “box” of a corporate boss felt almost Kafkaesque on the mic.

The production also dropped an end card for the episode illustrated by Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. designer Tetsuya Nishio, underlining how closely this 2026 series still leans on franchise DNA while carving its own tone. With weekly airings underway and simultaneous streaming on Prime Video in 240+ regions, the new cast additions are another signal that THE GHOST IN THE SHELL is settling into its groove as summer’s must-watch cyber-thriller.
