Crunchyroll Brings Anime to BMW Dashboards When Cars Park

Crunchyroll just treated the parked car like another living room. Starting with BMW and MINI, the streamer is dropping its app onto FORVIA's Appning in-car store, then fanning out across the BMW Group and more than 40 automakers in North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, India, and Australia.
Don't cue Solo Leveling at a stoplight. Video stays locked until the wheels stop, wrapping a library the company puts at more than 50,000 episodes and 25,000 hours. A paid Crunchyroll plan is still required. TiVo handles discovery, so the dash should feel like the living-room app — sitting next to YouTube, Spotify, and the rest of Appning's Android shelf.
Crunchyroll's distribution chief, Brian McGarvey, cast the deal as fans wanting their shows wherever they sit, driveway included. FORVIA says Appning already covers more than a fifth of the reachable car market, with Mercedes-Benz, Lotus, and Volkswagen among the dashboards already wired. Planes got anime. Now the curb does too — as long as the car stays still.
