Bleach: The Calamity Opens with $1.1M U.S. Theatrical Bow

The first three episodes of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity made their North American theatrical debut this week through a limited engagement from VIZ Media and Fathom Entertainment. The five-day run across participating cinemas opened on Thursday with an estimated $1.1 million, a solid result for a special anime event that screens the episodes ahead of their full broadcast and streaming launch.
Both subtitled and English-dubbed versions are playing, accompanied by exclusive behind-the-scenes content and a conversation with creator Tite Kubo. The screenings run through June 29 and serve as an early taste of the story's climactic battles as Soul Reapers and Quincies collide in the Wahr Welt.
Early second-day figures around $720,000 reflect typical patterns for such limited anime releases, yet the overall turnout underscores Bleach's enduring draw more than two decades after its debut. As the long-running series heads toward its conclusion in July, the theatrical numbers show fans remain eager to experience key moments on the big screen.
The performance arrives amid a broader wave of anime theatrical events proving their viability in North America, where dedicated audiences continue to support franchise milestones beyond home viewing.
