In a near-future where humanity has advanced to the point that the distinction between Homo Sapiens and Androids has become completely indistinguishable, this evolution was necessary for survival. Technology enabled humans to travel deep into space and colonize other planets and galaxies after Earth became uninhabitable. One of the many unfortunate consequences of this robotic Darwinism is that human behavior and consciousness have also shifted over time. Much of what once defined humanity—love, family, intimacy, and so on—has become a relic of the past, almost a legend.
This six-minute 3D animated short film draws inspiration from the female android "Gynoid" illustrations by Hajime Sorayama (The Humanoid). It is a collaborative effort between Studio 4°C, Shirogumi, and American filmmaker Rashad Haughton, with art direction by Tatsuyuki Tanaka. The CG animation was created "by eye," using live-action sequences filmed with actors as reference models.
