Best Sci-Fi Anime of 1965

In a dense, poorly lit forest, Ted encounters an elderly Professor Gulliver. Accompanied by Mack the dog, a toy soldier called The General, and the Crow, the group embarks on a journey in their spaceship, also named Gulliver, heading toward the Planet of Blue Hope.

The Amazing 3 is a manga by Osamu Tezuka, adapted into a black-and-white anime series. It follows the adventures of three extraterrestrial agents dispatched to Earth to assess whether the planet, seen as a potential danger to the cosmos, ought to be obliterated. The means of destruction is a device shaped like a large black sphere with two antennae, referred to at various times as an anti-proton bomb, a solar bomb, and a neutron bomb. Though the trio—Captain Bokko, Nokko, and Pukko—initially appear humanoid, upon arriving on Earth they adopt the forms of a rabbit (Bokko), a horse (Nokko), and a duck (Pukko), creatures they previously captured as representatives of Earth's wildlife. While on Earth, they travel in a tire-shaped vehicle capable of immense speed, dubbed the Big Wheel, which can traverse both land and water and, after modifications, even through the air. The series addresses numerous themes that were notably forward-thinking for an animated show of its era, particularly concerns about ecology and poverty.

The narrative follows a member of the Universal Peace Corps from Planet Radion who arrives on Earth with the task of evaluating whether the planet qualifies for admission into the Galactic Union of Worlds while also aiding its people during his time there. During his mission, Prince Planet assumes the guise of an Earth boy named Bobby and assembles allies who fight alongside him against malevolent forces, whether from outer space or Earth itself.

Accompanied by his daughter Asari, Dr. Tatsunoko of the Tatsunoko Research Center heads undersea to investigate strange radiation. There they find a giant shell, and the radiation turns out to originate from a globe within it. Asari then discovers a compact-shaped object containing a message, which states that an alien from Planet Parlum, a world on the brink of extinction, lies inside the globe. Suddenly, a peculiar-looking boy emerges from the globe and goes on a rampage. This is Ace, the very figure the message described. His superhuman strength is fueled by what is called space food, and he can take flight using the Silver Ring, which is forged from energy gathered instantly from the surrounding air. The ring also serves as a weapon against enemies. With the support of friends such as Asari, Ibo the robot dog, and Hermit Crab Reporter, he boldly takes action to resolve the many crises brought about by mysterious robots and ruthless alien invaders.

Following an extraterrestrial assault, a boy named Jun is saved by alien beings who give him special powers and induct him into their Space Patrol team. The show was renamed Patrol Hopper Uchukko Jun for its last eighteen episodes.

In this classic sci-fi TV anime, the story follows a young boy from Earth who is raised on Planet Soran, a world within the Galactic Federation renowned for its highly advanced civilization. Since Soran's gravity is 15 times that of Earth, the planet's inhabitants transform the boy into a cyborg to help him adapt to the environment. After many years, he departs Soran and returns to Earth, taking the name Soran. His physical abilities, now 15 times stronger than those of ordinary humans, enable him to use his enhanced powers to defend justice.

A time patroller from the 30th century travels back to the 20th century to prevent a meteor from annihilating the world. The final 26 episodes are presented in color.

This three-episode black-and-white series was a short experimental project. It takes some inspiration from Arthur C. Clarke's novel Deep Range. The plot follows the underwater adventures of a boy known as the Dolphin Prince. With his pet dolphin by his side, he wears a wetsuit equipped with a jetpack and fights foes using an aqua-boomerang. The episodes feature his mermaid comrade Neptuna and Dr. Mariner, and the story arcs are titled "Secret of the Red Vortex," "Call of the Sea," and "Attack of the Sea People."
