As World War II approaches its conclusion in 1945, relentless American air raids inflict widespread devastation across Japan, destroying numerous cities. "Grave of the Fireflies," or "Hotaru no Haka" in Japanese, chronicles the lives of Seita and his younger sister Setsuko, forever altered by the brutal realities of war. Stripped of their mother, father, home, and any hope for a bright future, the siblings must confront the grim aftermath of the conflict. Left homeless and stranded, Seita and Setsuko wander the countryside, battling hunger and sickness. Despite encountering apathy and occasional cruelty from those around them, their unyielding optimism in the face of overwhelming hardship sustains them, temporarily delaying the inevitable conclusion of their tragic journey.

In "Legend of the Galactic Heroes," the 150-year deadlock between the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance ends as a new generation of leaders rises: Reinhard von Lohengramm, an idealistic military prodigy, and Yang Wenli, a thoughtful historian from the FPA. Reinhard ascends the Empire's ranks backed by his childhood friend, Siegfried Kircheis, aiming to free his sister from the Kaiser's grasp and unite humanity under a single legitimate ruler while battling the fading Goldenbaum Dynasty's remnants. On the galaxy's opposite side, Yang, a staunch democracy advocate, struggles to uphold his beliefs amid the FPA's challenges and mentors his student, Julian Mintz, stressing that autocracy is not the answer. As war rages and ideologies collide, both strategic masters must reflect on the underlying motivations driving their conflict.

In Universal Century 0093, Char Aznable, commanding the space rebel group Neo Zeon, promotes the idea of humanity relocating to space in order to secure peace. To advance this cause, he intends to send the immense asteroid Axis colliding into Earth, creating a catastrophic winter that would make the planet impossible to live on. This aggressive scheme also lets him address a personal conflict with Amuro Ray, which began with a comrade's death during the One Year War, even though they have sometimes fought on the same side. The Earth Federation's Londo Bell unit is the only group capable of stopping Char's plan. Led by seasoned Captain Bright Noa, and with Amuro Ray piloting the sophisticated Nu Gundam, Londo Bell launches an operation to safeguard Earth. As the original Gundam story heads toward its climactic finale, the decisive battle between Londo Bell and Neo Zeon determines the planet's future and concludes the bitter feud between Char and Amuro.

While looking into a series of gruesome murders where the victims have been completely drained of blood, spiritualist Himiko Se meets Miyu Yamano, who reveals herself to be a true vampire. Yet Miyu acts as a guardian, keeping humanity safe from the dangerous Shinma—supernatural beings with godlike demonic power. These Shinma cause chaos among people, and one of them has infiltrated the noble vampire bloodline. As Himiko continues her investigation, she finds it hard to believe Miyu's claims of innocence and wonders why a vampire would defend humans against the Shinma.

Yo Hinomura was once a simple Japanese potter before a confrontation with the Chinese mafia forever altered his path. Now serving as an assassin for the 108 Dragons, Yo is a flawless killing machine. As a display of remorse for his victims, he weeps after completing each assassination. Because of this, he is notoriously recognized by the Dragons and every criminal syndicate worldwide as "Crying Freeman."

Following the conclusion of the Kimagure Orange Road TV series, Kyosuke and Madoka reach the brink of graduation, facing the critical decision of which college to attend. Naturally desiring to stay together, they must balance their studies with the search for a university that will accept both of them. Hikaru, who still has a year remaining before her own graduation, attempts to support Kyosuke in her unique fashion. However, her involvement sparks jealousy in Madoka, prompting her to finally confess her true feelings to Kyosuke. Faced with this emotional crossroads, Kyosuke must take decisive action to choose the girl he truly loves, bringing the story of Kimagure Orange Road to a definitive close.

This animated feature brings the Urusei Yatsura saga to a boiling point by adapting the final story arc of the original manga, though it is not the series' concluding film. Lupa, another of Lum's suitors, arrives on Earth, forcing Lum and Ataru to rekindle their game of tag to stop the planet from being obliterated. Ataru's only path to victory is uttering the three words "I love you," which he has stubbornly refused to say to Lum. Will he finally confess his true feelings to save the Earth, or will his pride lead to the world's destruction?

The residents of Maison Ikkoku hold a party to celebrate Yusaku and Kyoko's wedding. During the festivities, Yusaku grows uneasy after learning that Kyoko is waiting for a letter, sparking jealousy and suspicions about her loyalty. His anxiety lingers through the night, and the truth behind his concerns is finally uncovered the next morning.

In a deep, dark void, the once-beautiful Venus now wallows in misery. Dissatisfied with her situation, she summons her twin brother, Deimos, to find her a new vessel. Meanwhile, Minako Ifu worries about her missing friend Hisamatsu, who vanished while searching for a famous orchid cultivator. While trying to track him down, she crosses paths with Deimos, who proclaims that she is fated to become his bride and descend with him into the underworld. Terrified, Minako flees and eventually finds the house her friend was seeking, where she meets the friendly siblings Touko and Kaname Ooba. But appearances are deceptive, and Minako finds herself caught up in a sinister plot—despite the persistent and charming advances of Deimos.

A young man named Akitsu Masato is taken into custody by a secret government initiative called "Last Guardian." He learns that his ordinary student life was fabricated, and his true purpose is to pilot a massive robot known as the "Zeorymer of the Heavens." This reality is driven home when Masato witnesses his `parents` accepting money for raising him. Last Guardian is preparing for the revival of "Hau Dragon," an organization intent on world domination. Fifteen years ago, Hau Dragon constructed eight colossal robots, each mecha representing a different natural force. But before any of them could be deployed, their creator Kihara Masaki destroyed all but the leader unit: Zeorymer. He handed Zeorymer and an embryo over to the government. That embryo grew into Masato. Now Hau Dragon has rebuilt the other seven mecha and seeks the eighth. It falls to Masato and Himuro to pilot Zeorymer and fight against Hau Dragon—yet neither Masato nor Himuro are what they appear to be.

Kiteretsu is a boy with extraordinary scientific talent who created a robot sidekick called Korosuke. Using the time machine he invented, he regularly embarks on time-travel adventures with his friends and Korosuke. Living in the same neighborhood is Miyoko, who essentially serves as his girlfriend. His rival Tongari possesses several characteristics reminiscent of Honekawa Suneo. Meanwhile, Buta Gorilla (Kumada Kaoru) functions as the local neighborhood bully and shares many traits with Gian (Takeshi Goda), except that he frequently picks on Korosuke, despite them all being in elementary school.

Oishinbo revolves around newspaper journalists, with Yamaoka, a skeptical food critic, as the central figure. This manga is a well-known adult-oriented mainstream comic in Japan and has been referenced in an episode of "Iron Chef."

Ceddie's father dies unexpectedly, prompting the boy to travel to England and assume his grandfather's title, the Earl of Dorincourt. The Earl is first known for his obstinate and self-centered ways, but Ceddie's sincere warmth gradually begins to soften him. This transformation ultimately turns the Earl into a kinder and more generous man. This story is a retelling of Frances Hodgson Burnett's classic novel.

The story picks up from the Lady Lady series. At Lynn’s school, the prestigious Lady Quest award is presented annually to the most refined young lady. Lynn is resolved to achieve this honor.

Three years have passed since the events of the first series. Hiromi has continued training with her coach and become Japan's junior champion. Their joint successes also led to the coach being selected as the first trainer of the Japanese Selection of Tennis, and he is scheduled to lead a trip with the youngest team members to the USA. The personal relationship between Hiromi and her coach has grown closer, but moving beyond their teacher-student bond proves very challenging.

A Cinderella-like story, Fashion Lala follows a young girl named Miho who has a difficult relationship with her family. Miho has a passion for designing clothes, but her aunt and three cousins doubt that someone so young can be talented and make fun of her creations. Meanwhile, a contest for the next "Disco Queen" is approaching, and Miho desperately wants to create a dress for someone to wear in the competition, since she is not old enough to participate herself. With resolve and a touch of magic, Miho's aspirations might become reality!

Hi no Ame ga Furu is an anti-war anime adapted from a compilation of firsthand accounts of the firebombing of Fukuoka, which took place on the night of June 19, 1945.

After Rin's mother passes away, she vows to one day become a Lady and travels to England to meet her extended family. At first, she is not warmly welcomed—especially by her stepsister Sara—but over time they become a happy family. Rin (also known as Lynn) has a strong interest in horses and racing, and she wins a good number of competitions. The series is divided into two parts: the first follows Rin as a young child, and the second when she is around thirteen years old.

The main character, known as Ryuu or the Crying Dragon, is an enigmatic man who frequently plays games with gang members. He only secures victories through "ron," a mahjong move where one waits for an opponent's tile to complete a winning hand. The term "ron" is also called "naki" in mahjong, which shares the same pronunciation as the Japanese word for "crying." This mahjong anime is based on a manga by Nojo Junichi from the 1980s and 1990s.

The story starts with Katsuhiko heading to the United States, while his friends Kasumi and Yusaku see him off at Narita Airport. Two years later, Katsuhiko returns to Japan as a professional racer, coming back for both a race and to marry Kasumi. At the same time, Yusaku follows his passion for photography.

In 1945, the second- and third-year students of a Hiroshima girls' school are sent to work in war factories. The remaining 220 first-year students become the only teenagers in a nearly empty town, doing their best to keep a sense of ordinary life amid the difficulties of war. Everything changes forever on August 7 when an American bomber appears. This story was broadcast on the 43rd anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing as a tribute to "the girls who perished in the atomic blast."

The Acorns and the Wildcat is an unconventional short film presented in picture-book style, coming from the same creator behind Night on the Galactic Railroad and Gauche the Cellist. What makes it stand out from typical anime is its structure: a narrator reads Kenji's story aloud while the visuals consist of a sequence of warm, evocative illustrations, each animated with only the faintest touches of motion. If the film feels strangely familiar without being quite placeable, the reason is likely the exquisitely minimalist animation by Yasuhiro Nagura, who was the animation director on Mamoru Oshii's art-house 1986 feature Angel's Egg. On top of that, Kenji's wildcat is believed to have served as the inspiration for Miyazaki's Panda/Totoro creature. The choice to recite Kenji's story rather than act it out as a drama proves remarkably refreshing, with the author's enchanting language and narrative voice more than enough to keep the viewer engaged. Combined with dreamy music and stunning artwork, the result is a quietly charming, unassuming little treasure of a film.

Drawing from the difficult adolescence of renowned author George Abe, this narrative follows his formative years. Despite coming from an affluent family, he begins forging ties with members of the yakuza.

In 1945, American forces land on Okinawa. While the Japanese wage guerrilla warfare against the invaders, Ryuko is compelled to abandon her grandparents and flee with her mother and younger sister, both of whom die during their escape. Ryuko endures the brutal journey alone through the devastated landscape. Later she seeks refuge in caves where Japanese soldiers are hiding, witnessing them kill themselves with grenades. This story is based on a children's book by Akira Aratagawa and Hikuji Norima, itself drawn from an actual American film of an Okinawan girl, Tomiko Higa, waving a white flag when the island surrenders.
