Synopsis
In 2019, an uprising in the United States triggered a global nuclear conflict that culminated in the Maelström disaster. Fifty years after the catastrophe, the WHO has centralized global governance to ensure human survival, restructuring society to treat individuals as communal assets and guaranteeing well-being through advanced medical technologies, nanomachines, and immersive augmented reality. Miach Mihie, a Japanese teenager, rejects these dehumanizing norms and plots to commit suicide alongside her friends Tuan Kirie and Cian Reikadou before her mandatory WatchMe implant activation at age eighteen. However, Cian betrays their pact, resulting in Miach's declared death and Tuan's narrow escape. Thirteen years later, Tuan, now a seasoned Helix inspector working with the WHO, is summoned back to Japan by Oscar Stauffenberg after her exposure for drug trafficking during the Niger conflict. Back home, she encounters a series of coordinated suicides and is assigned to investigate the incidents and uncover the terrorist organization behind them.
