Synopsis

Continues the story of Dragon Ball GT

After years of searching, Emperor Pilaf at last obtains the Black Star Dragon Balls, artifacts rumored to possess twice the power of the ordinary Dragon Balls found on Earth. Just as Pilaf is on the verge of wishing for total world domination, Gokuu Son barges in and disrupts the ceremony. The interruption causes Pilaf to botch his wish, and instead of ruling the world, he accidentally reverts Gokuu to the body of a child. No sooner is the wish fulfilled than the Black Star Dragon Balls fly off to distant corners of the galaxy. Gokuu soon learns that these special Dragon Balls come with a terrible catch: unless every last one is recovered within a single year, the Earth itself will be destroyed. Joined by his granddaughter Pan and a now-young-adult Trunks, Gokuu embarks on an intergalactic quest to track down the scattered Black Star Dragon Balls and keep his home planet from exploding.

Years after the conclusion of Dragon Ball GT, this special picks up with Son Goku's granddaughter Pan, now elderly, and introduces a new generation of Super Saiyajins—the great-great-grandsons of Goku and Vegeta. A century after DBGT's end, Earth's heroes have all passed away, with the sole exception of Pan, Goku's granddaughter. Pan has a grandson named Goku Jr., but he lacks the courage of his great-great-grandfather. When Pan suffers a heart attack, Goku Jr. thinks he might save her using the power of the four-star Dragon Ball. Together with the school bully, he sets out to find the ball—and in the process, unlocks his hidden bravery and strength.
