Synopsis

Continues the story of Kemurikusa (2018)

Prior to the Kemurikusa television series, short prequel episodes were released on Tatsuki's official Twitter account. These clips follow an unconventional numbering system, starting with an unnamed episode 0, then 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, and 0.9. After the television series ended, Tatsuki released another short titled episode 12.1 on both Twitter and the official YouTube channel, making the total number of web shorts connected to the series seven.

In this installment

In a barren wasteland, a group of young girls possessing unique abilities and a tree growing through a train car struggle to survive as they search for the remaining sources of water. Their daily existence is transformed when Wakaba, an amnesiac boy, becomes part of their group. Together, they traverse seas of blazing red fog and venture into dangerous islands teeming with mechanical insects. Their survival depends on their own strength and Wakaba's unusual gift for understanding the Kemurikusa—mysterious glowing leaves that hold powerful qualities. Alongside the girls, Wakaba, and the countless hungry bugs, the Kemurikusa represent the last signs of life in this forsaken world. Questions arise about how this world became so desolate and why buildings stand empty with no inhabitants. The girls and Wakaba search for answers, believing the truth may be hidden within the Kemurikusa.
