Synopsis
During the Hundred Years' War in medieval France, a powerful young witch named Maria lives with her two familiars. Troubled by the ongoing conflict and its devastating effects on ordinary people, she uses her magic to try and bring about peace. Her repeated actions draw the attention of heaven, and the archangel Michael is dispatched to stop her. He orders Maria to stay out of human affairs and warns that she will lose her magical abilities if she ever loses her virginity. Though branded a heretic, Maria defies Michael's command and continues to interfere with the war. As the Church schemes to strip her of her powers and permanently end her interference, Maria's mission for peace faces a dire turning point.
