Synopsis
In "Japan Sinks 2020 Theatrical Edition: Unsinkable Hope," the Mutou family lives an ordinary existence: Kouichirou works at a construction site, his wife Mari returns from a trip overseas, their daughter Ayumu has just finished her track practice, and their son Gou spends his time gaming at home. But their daily routine is violently interrupted by a massive earthquake that devastates the entire Japanese archipelago, turning the country into ruins almost immediately. As society collapses and Japan rapidly sinks into the ocean, the Mutou family must unite to survive the ongoing calamity. Navigating this near-apocalyptic situation, they fight not just to stay alive but also to deal with the deep loss and the hurdles that lie ahead.
