In a universe where traveling between stars is normal, high school student Marika Katou balances her activities in the space yacht club with a waitressing job. Her life shifts dramatically after meeting two strange customers, whom she later connects to news of her missing father's passing. Her father, the famous pirate known as "Gonzaemon," bequeathed his notorious ship, the Bentenmaru, and its crew to Marika. Along with this inheritance comes a rare Letter of Marque, which grants legal pirate status. Marika must choose between her everyday life and embracing her father's adventurous legacy as a space pirate. As she contemplates her decision, Marika's situation draws the attention of multiple government organizations and a mysterious new transfer student, Chiaki Kurihara, all observing whether she can live up to her father's esteemed reputation. To maintain their lawful standing and restore the Bentenmaru's fearsome reputation, the crew must journey across the vast cosmos and reclaim their intimidating legacy.

Balancing her busy schedule that includes attending school, heading the space yacht club, working part-time at Cafe Lamp, and commanding her pirate crew, Marika is approached with a mission to raid a luxurious passenger vessel. During her preparations, she learns that Kanata Mugen, a boy in possession of a rare "galaxy pass," is onboard. This revelation sparks a thrilling chase through hyperspace, pitting Marika and her crew against the mysterious boy.
