The Story of Cinderella

Synopsis

Cinderella is the only daughter of a fairly wealthy family. After her mother dies, her father marries a widow with two daughters and then goes away on business. Cinderella gradually becomes a servant to her stepmother and stepsisters. Meanwhile, the prince leads a dull life in the castle; one day he escapes and disguises himself as a commoner. Cinderella meets him when they accidentally bump into each other, and she becomes his best friend without realizing he is actually the prince. There are additional twists, including another villain in the form of the king's right-hand man, who is plotting to seize the throne after eliminating the prince. Following a series of events and recounted stories, the castle holds a royal ball so the prince can choose a wife. Every maiden in the kingdom receives an invitation. When Cinderella's cruel stepmother prevents her from attending the royal ball, she receives unexpected help from her pets—a dog, mice, a cat, and birds—as well as from her Fairy Godmother.
